Greenfield Village

Saturday, Hubby and I volunteered at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan, I am a docent at the Martha Mary Chapel and Hubby is a docent at the Edison Illuminating Building. Saturday was the "Old Car Festival." The place was full of old cars from 1915 to 1932. I fell in love with an Auburn. It was so dazzling with lots of chrome and more headlights than I thought possible. The day started out with a steady rain but around noon the sun came up and it was a glorious day.

A Flag Waver

There is no question about it. I am a patriotic flag waver. I like the flag waving outside our front door. Hubby, now, is very legalistic and will not leave the flag out if it is raining or after the sun goes down. The problem is where to keep the flag when it is not outside. We decided a patio umbrella stand in the foyer solved the problem. When people come over they look a little askance at us though as if we were housing a boy scout troop or something with the flag standing in the foyer.

The Zoo

Hubby and I decided to take a break and go to the zoo yesterday. It was a beautiful day, nice and cool. We had lunch at Friday's and then went to the zoo for the afternoon. It was fun to look at the animals and the gardens. I don't remember ever seeing an anteater before. The Detroit Zoo is full of little gardens maintained by private individuals. The chipmunk was in one of those little gardens. We even stopped and ate some Dip'n Dots. Frankly, I wasn't impressed. I suppose they are less messy for children. All in all it was a great day.
