The Poplar Tree

My opinion of poplar trees is that they are just giant weeds.  When we were in New Mexico they treasure the poplars, apparently they are the only thing that grows. Our neighbors had one that had even grown into the cyclone fence.  It was a huge tree, however it dropped branches regularly and on a windy day we didn't dare to hang around under it. The neighbors decided to put in a privacy fence and took that opportunity to cut down the tree. It was quite an undertaking.  We didn't lose much shade because it was on the north side of our lot but it sure opened up the space.  Taking out the tree and the fence will certainly tear up my garden but it can be fixed. The tree people sure tore up the neighbors yard

Bonsai

For Mother's Day Gretel gave me a Bonsai kit. Saturday I soaked all the seeds in warm water over night. Then yesterday I soaked the dirt pellets in hot water until they quadrupled in size.  I then planted the different seeds in each of their pots.  The directions say it will take 3-4 weeks before they germinate. Hubby has already commented that I am not watering them enough and I had not put the dates on the labels. What would I do without him!
