I have finished the first step in completing my brother's quilt. Since he retired he developed an interest in bird watching, so for his 40th wedding anniversary (next year) I am making him a quilt. I will put different kinds of local birds on the tree. It has only taken me a year so far. I got the layout of the tree from the master gardening book on tree pruning. It's a pear tree. The quilt will show itself as a work in progress because my skill level is changing as I work.

Wow. That's gorgeous already.
Very, very nice! You're making the exact quilt that I've been planning in my head for about 20 years. Every spring when I see the flowering trees come out I am inspired to do a tree quilt with pinks and spring greens. But I never do. I'll be interested to follow your progress.
