Carole and I are still working on the leaf quilt. Progress is still slow. It is only a nine-patch but sometimes the patches have up to five pieces in each of the nine patches. The directions call for paper piecing which I have never found to be easy. Probably the wine doesn't help. The last patch I did had to be completely redone because the color I chose for the leaf didn't match the adjacent block with the same leaf.

Wow, that's gorgeous!
I like the concept of paper piecing, in that it's a little like paint-by-numbers: You follow the steps and sew on the lines and you end up with complex and beautiful shapes. But I've never actually tried it. How long does it take you to do a patch?
Also, how do you plan to quilt it?
Some 9 patches take a couple of hours, depending on the parts. The quilting is a in the ditch around the edges of the leaves and then some veining. I usually manage to get 4 done in a day.
