Women's March in D.C.

The March was spectacular. We took the Metro into D.C. after finding the 2 end stations, Greenbelt, and Carrolton were closed because the huge parking lots were full. At the station we waited in line for over an hour to get subway tickets.  Fortunately for me I had a senior pass that I had got years ago but unfortunately my friend, Carole, and son, Jim, didn't have tickets.  We walked for an hour and a half before we got to the Mall so we didn't hear the speeches.  I really wanted to see Angela Davis. At about 4 PM the group, we were in, was heading to the White House and we turned and went back to the Subway and stood in line to get on. It was a great experience, very upbeat. Some signs were so clever. About 10 percent men, a lot of family groups covering several generations. People who had walkers and little kids too. On the way home, on the Turnpike, we had to stand again in lines because of all the women returning home.  Everyone was in good spirits. Today, Hubby has been finding out how much it would cost to have the postcards printed from the 10 days in action plan.

So very glad you came to our town to march! It was glorious, all of it. The signs, the huge crowds, the common spirit of doing good. The best of America on display. It would be nice to think that our president could learn something from it but alas I don't think that's possible. Good for Hubby for following through on the 10 days in action. I'm also going to try to be more involved. It's so important.

Yay! I'm glad you could go to Washington. Sounds like the transit was a bit nightmarish. The transit folks were not very well-prepared for that here, either (not any fault of the march organizers; they requested extra buses and trains). But you got there!

I'd like to see those postcards when you get them done.
