Disaster! I went Near the Kitchen

Today, Hubby has a terrible cold, so he slept in a little. I got up, took the dog out and tried to make a pot of coffee. I took the lid off of the pot and rinsed the pot and forgot to put the lid back on. I dumped the old grounds, rinsed the filter, and put new coffee grounds in.  I poured the water into the coffee maker and splashed some water into the jar of coffee grounds. I turned the coffee maker on. The coffee was terrible, full of grounds and there was water all over the counter. Who could know that the lid on the carafe was that important.
